National Lunch Program
Universal School Meals Act - We will be serving healthy meals to students under
the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs for the 2022-2023
school year. All students will be served a healthy lunch and breakfast at no
charge, at all Mountain View Whisman Schools.
California became the first state in the nation to adopt a statewide Universal
Meals Program law for all school children, thus elevating school meals as an
integral part of a quality education system. Universal Meals is one key part of,
“Transforming School Initiatives”.
The California Universal Meals Program is designed to build on the foundation of
the Federal National School Lunch Program, (NSLP), and School Breakfast
Program, (SBP) and to supplement, not replace, Federal requirements.
This school year we will continue to purchase from local vendors, local farms and
small businesses. These businesses supply us with fresh picked produce, baked
fresh daily pastries, rolls breads, pizza and hormone and additive free dairy
products.
