Getting Involved

The first steps:

  • Ask other parents you know how they're involved.
  • Talk to the principal about your interests and ways to get involved at school.
  • Ask your child's teacher about helping in the classroom.
  • Attend a meeting of whatever organization or committee in which you are interested.

You can get involved with your local school in many different ways.

  • You can volunteer at school.
  • You can donate the amount of money or time you can afford. The Mountain View Educational Foundation (MVEF) provides the district with funding for many vital programs.
  • You can attend a meeting or participate in activities sponsored by organizations like the PTA.
  • You can serve on advisory groups such as the School Site Council and committees for the parents of bilingual or Title I students. Check out the committees page here.
