Changes in Pooled Testing Notification - Jan. 5

Dear Parents:

The health and safety of our students and staff are our top priority.

For those students whose parents have consented for them to participate in pooled COVID testing: If your child is identified as a member of a positive pool, he/she will take a follow-up rapid antigen test at school as has been our practice.  We typically notify families when we receive a positive pool result prior to following up with individual rapid antigen tests. In order to expedite our process and speed communication of results, starting this week, we will begin follow up rapid antigen testing of students through our Concentric partners without parents receiving an email beforehand

Follow-up rapid antigen tests give individual results. Those who test negative on the rapid test may continue to come to school if they remain asymptomatic. If your child's rapid test result is negative, you will not receive a notification.  If your student is identified as a close contact to a positive case, you will receive email notification and your child will take the required "Day 5" test at school during the regularly scheduled pooled testing.

Those who test positive on the rapid test will receive email notification and instructions to begin immediate isolation at home.

For students not participating in pooled testing: Students will be excluded from campus until a Day 1 negative test result is submitted to school. Students are required to test on Day 5 after exposure and provide proof of the negative tests to school.

Please notify your school right away if your child has been identified as a close contact to someone outside of school or has tested positive for COVID. For more information on quarantine procedures, please see the “protocols” section on https://www.mvwsd.org/returntolearn.

Thank you and stay safe.
