Interdistrict Transfers

Transfers into MVWSD

If you live outside the Mountain View Whisman School District (MVWSD) boundaries and you would like your child to attend one of our schools, then your home school district must release your child first in order to attend the MVWSD.

MVWSD does not anticipate accepting students who do not live within the district boundaries (Interdistrict Transfer); with the exception of MVWSD .5 FTE employees or higher. The employee should submit proof of employment.

Transfers out of MVWSD:

If you live in Mountain View and want to attend school elsewhere, outside of MVWSD, please complete these steps.

STEPS:

1) Outgoing: Complete this form and submit it to MVWSD:
 Interdistrict Transfer form (outgoing)
or
Incoming: Go to your home school district and complete the forms

2) Your home school district will process the transfer. It usually takes about 2-4 weeks to process (or longer). Your home school district will send you a copy of their decision in the mail. The original is sent onto the MVWSD Office for processing.

3) Once the MVWSD receives the Interdistrict Transfer request and process it, you will receive a copy of our decision by mail. Transfers are processed on a biweekly basis (16th and 30th/31st of each month); subject to change without notice.

For New Incoming Interdistrict Transfer request you must complete the steps mentioned above and if transfer is approved you must schedule a registration appointment.

RENEWING:

For Renewing Incoming Interdistrict Transfers, you must renew your transfer annually with your home school district (no need to re-register).
Approval from the MVWSD is based on the criteria and standards of good academics, good attendance, and good behavior. Failure to do so will affect your student's continued attendance in the district.

VERY IMPORTANT! Failure to have your Renewing Interdistrict Transfer form into the MVWSD before the start of the new school year, will result in an automatic withdrawal from MVWSD.

Choice schools are so desired by the MVWSD residents, the likelihood of a New Interdistrict Transfer being approved or wait listed is very nominal.

Please return the transfer application and supporting documents by email, mail or in person. For questions please contact:
