Dear Parents,
Since the start of the pandemic, safety has been our top priority. As we conclude our second week of school, we continue to refine our position and approach to meeting the evolving demands that COVID-19 places on our community.
This week, we have two important topics we wanted to update you on: (1) COVID-19 protocols and (2) air quality. Both of these topics will be discussed during a special Board of Trustees meeting on Thursday, Aug. 26 at 6 p.m. For meeting agenda (to be posted on Wednesday) and participant information, please click here.
COVID Safety:
We have been working hard to address the details of student and staff COVID testing and quarantine protocols. While we are still working out some of the details, please visit this webpage for the latest information on quarantines and testing. For all of our COVID resources, please visit mvwsd.org/returntolearn.
Air Quality:
The 2021 wildfire season is upon us; a situation that we are all too familiar with, unfortunately. This year with COVID, the impact of poor air quality is even greater. While we understand that there are multiple online tools to measure air quality (Breezo, Purple Air, Bay Area Air Quality Management District, etc.), MVWSD uses the EPA’s AQI monitoring tools at AirNow.gov. Please click here to learn more: mvwsd.org
Due to the complexity of these challenges, we will continue to refine guidelines as we collect input from various stakeholders, the Santa Clara County Department of Public Health and the Board of Trustees. In the meantime, we'll monitor our County’s COVID-19 case rate, as well as the air quality index (AQI).
I encourage you to tune into the Board meeting. We appreciate your support and flexibility as we deal with these ever-changing conditions.
Respectfully,
Dr. Ayindé Rudolph
Superintendent
