ENROLLMENT PRIORITIES

Nothing in the enrollment priorities shall be construed as an obligation of the District to enter into or to renew any interdistrict transfer agreement.

Subject to Board Policy No. 5116.1, the following enrollment priorities shall be administered on a space-available basis, subject to the reasonable discretion of District administration to address issues that may impact the operation of the District, its schools and/or programs.

A. For neighborhood schools, the enrollment priorities shall be the following:

1. Priority for students currently enrolled at a particular school in the District:
a. First priority to students who reside in the District and were enrolled at the same school during the prior school year.
b. Second priority to students who are children of salaried District employees (at least 0.5 FTE), attend pursuant to an interdistrict transfer agreement, and were enrolled at the same school during the prior school year.
2. Priority for students residing in attendance boundaries but not currently enrolled in the school:
a. Third priority to students who reside within the school’s attendance boundaries and were assigned to attend a different District school due to lack of space in the prior school year.
b. Fourth priority to students who reside within the school’s attendance boundaries and have siblings that will continue at the school under Paragraph 1a above.
c. Fifth priority to all other students who reside within the school attendance boundaries and are new to the school.

3. Priority for students residing outside of the attendance boundaries ,but within the District:
a. Sixth priority to students who are children of salaried District employees (at least 0.5 FTE), reside within the district, and have siblings that will continue at the school under Paragraph 1a above.
b. Seventh priority to students who reside outside the attendance boundaries, but within the District, and have siblings that will continue at the school under Paragraph 1a above.
c. Eighth priority to students who are children of salaried District employees (at least 0.5 FTE), reside within the District, and are new to the school, but only for the elementary or middle school closest to the employee’s primary assigned location that has space available.

4. Ninth priority for students who are children of salaried District employees (at least 0.5 FTE), attend pursuant to an interdistrict transfer agreement, and are new to the school, but only for the elementary or middle school closest to the employee’s primary assigned location that has space available.

5. Tenth priority for all other students who reside outside the school’s attendance boundaries, but within the District, and are new to the school.

6. Priority for all other interdistrict transfer students:
a. Eleventh priority for students who attend pursuant to an interdistrict transfer agreement and were enrolled at the same school during the prior school year.
b. Twelfth priority for students who attend pursuant to an interdistrict transfer agreement and have siblings that will continue at the school under Paragraph 6a above.
c. Thirteenth priority for all other students who attend pursuant to an interdistrict transfer agreement and are new to the school.

B. For Dual Immersion and PACT, the enrollment priorities shall be the following:

1. Priority for students currently enrolled in a particular program in the District:
a. First priority to students who reside in the District and were enrolled in the same program during the prior school year.
b. Second priority to students who are children of salaried District employees (at least 0.5 FTE), attend pursuant to an interdistrict transfer agreement, and were enrolled in the same program during the prior school year.
c. Third priority for students who attend pursuant to an interdistrict transfer agreement and were enrolled in the same program during the prior school year.

2. Priority for students with siblings in the program:
a. Fourth priority for students who live within the District and have siblings that will continue in the program under Paragraph 1a above.
b. Fifth priority for students who attend pursuant to an interdistrict transfer agreement and are siblings of continuing students enrolled in the program prior to October 1, 2008.

3. Priority for children of other District employees:
a. Sixth priority for students who are children of salaried District employees (at least 0.5 FTE), live within the District, and are new to the program, but only with respect to employees who are assigned to the site.
b. Seventh priority for students who are children of salaried District employees (at least 0.5 FTE), attend pursuant to an interdistrict transfer agreement, and are new to the school, but only with respect to employees who are assigned to the site.
c. Eighth priority for students who are children of salaried District employees (at least 0.5 FTE) who are not assigned to the site, live within the District, and are new to the program.
d. Ninth priority for students who are children of salaried District employees (at least 0.5 FTE) who are not assigned to the site, attend pursuant to an interdistrict transfer agreement, and are new to the program.

4. Tenth priority for all other students who live within the District and are new to the program.

5. Priority for students who attend school in the District pursuant to an interdistrict transfer agreement:
a. Eleventh priority for students who attend pursuant to an interdistrict transfer agreement and are siblings of continuing students enrolled in the program after October 1, 2008.
b. Twelfth priority to all other students who attend pursuant to an interdistrict transfer agreement and are new to the program.
