Technology at Home

Securly Home

MVWSD provides a tool to help parents be aware of their student’s online activities. Schools use Securly to keep students safe on their school-issued devices. Teachers can use Securly’s classroom management to keep the focus on learning. This application allows parents to see what choices your student is making online so that you will be alerted to potential issues and can guide your student. Please note: Securly is for school-issued devices only; not your student’s cell phone, family iPad, etc. Securly will give reports for online activity on your child’s district-issued device that occurs off school grounds. You will not get reports for online activity at school.

Google Take-Out:

For students who are leaving the district, or moving on to high school, you can use Google Take-Out to transfer your documents and data from your Google Drive.

Step 1: Go to https://takeout.google.com/transfer and sign in with your MVWSD account

Step 2: Enter your new high school email address or personal email as the destination account and click "Send Code"

Step 3: Check your MVLA account or personal email and copy and paste the confirmation code provided

Step 4: Verify the account and select the content you want to be transferred. This transfer process may take anywhere from a few hours to a few days, so be patient!

How parents can help:

Parents can support and supervise appropriate technology usage at home in several ways.

  1. Please ask your student about how she or he uses the Chromebook and when. Please help your student care for his/her device by keeping it safe and charged. Students are responsible for the care and charging of their Chromebooks.
  2. Know that email has been disabled for grades K-5. The District has safety blockers for inappropriate content and red flags (that alert the MVWSD Technology Department) for inappropriate searches.
  3. Consider digital citizenship lessons for your student and resources for you on commonsensemedia.org
  4. Ensure that middle schoolers have an accessible Internet connection at home. (If there’s no Internet, qualifying families can sign up for the Internet Essentials program. Please email Jon Aker.)
For issues with Chromebooks, please contact MVWSD Technology at 650-526-3252 or [email protected]. Parents can also access the ServiceNow technology support ticketing system through the PowerSchool Parent Portal.
