Update: COVID testing on campus
The Mountain View Whisman School District is partnering with Concentric for simple, pooled COVID-19 testing for TK-8th grade students weekly and rapid antigen testing for staff members on campuses. This preventative testing will alert us to positive cases in our community faster, so we may act to reduce COVID transmission.
The supply of test kits and personnel is increasing. As a result, we anticipate that we can start full-scale testing on campuses by mid-October. In the meantime, you may see our schools practicing testing procedures in preparation.

Click here for a video showing what student testing will look like.

Testing is easy, convenient and effective. Please see the Top 5 Reasons to Participate in COVID Pooled Testing and Four Testing Myths Debunked.

If you haven’t already given consent for your student to participate, please see your school office. For more information on the program, please go to: https://www.mvwsd.org/covidtesting.

Available now: Upload your child’s COVID documents to PowerSchool

Parents can now upload to PowerSchool the important COVID documents that will help expedite students’ return to school after a COVID exposure.

After logging in to https://ps.mvwsd.org/public, parents will be able to click on the “COVID reporting” icon. The next screen will allow parents to upload: 1.) students’ proof of COVID vaccination, needed to allow students to continue to attend school with one test after COVID exposure; and 2.) Past positive COVID test, needed in the 90 days after a positive case resolves in order to avoid subsequent positive tests and unnecessary quarantines for that student. More functionality will be added to the “COVID reporting” section in the future.

Click here for a video that shows you how to upload documents.

Thank you in advance for uploading your documents now before they are needed in the case of a positive COVID exposure for your student. If you have difficulty accessing your PowerSchool Parent Portal, please contact your school office.

MVWSD is implementing off-campus Internet access for neighborhoods

CRBSThe District is expanding the coverage of our District network to provide Internet access at home to families who live close to schools. Students who are within range can use a District-provided modem to access free, school-provided Internet through the Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS). Qualifying students in the Castro and Rex Manor neighborhoods can already use this service, and more neighborhoods will be up soon.

This system is especially effective in denser neighborhoods. The implementation of this service further closes the digital divide in our community and brings us even closer to our strategic goal of free, convenient Internet for all students.

Upcoming October no-school days
No school for students Oct. 11 and 12

Monday, October 11th is a recess day (no school for students and staff). Tuesday, October 12th is a staff development day, which means no school for students but a work day for teachers, school secretaries and 12-month classified staff.
