Board meeting review: Kinder readiness, Boundaries and Equity Scorecard

Kindergarten Readiness Analysis: Staff provided results from the Kindergarten Readiness Analysis found here.  The purpose of the study is to analyze early childhood data in order to understand our students' kindergarten/ elementary school readiness. The Board discussed the roles of the preschool and the expanded transitional kindergarten program in how well our students are prepared for elementary school.

Parameters for Boundary Adjustments: As residential growth continues in Mountain View, the District anticipates increased student enrollment that will be more concentrated at some schools.  Over time, the District will need to make boundary adjustments to accommodate the student growth. The Board discussed common methods for accommodating population change. Read the demographer’s report here.

Equity Scorecard: Understanding the District's Needs: MVWSD is developing an Equity Scorecard and framework to center conversations around student data in order to facilitate equitable outcomes for students. It is a communication and progress monitoring tool that is meant to show the gaps between subgroups so the District can more effectively work to serve all students. Read the materials here.
