Learning Continuity and Attendance Plan available for review, comments
|
On June 29, 2020, Governor Newsom signed Senate Bill 98 (SB 98) into law. SB 98 mandates the creation of a Learning Continuity and Attendance Plan (LCP) in lieu of the 2020-21 Local Control Accountability Plan.
MVWSD is in the process of creating this LCP. The LCP is intended to balance the needs of all stakeholders, including educators, parents, students and community members and the ongoing need for Districts to formally plan to return to school in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic without requiring two plans (an LCAP and LCP).
The Learning Continuity and Attendance Plan template memorializes the planning process already underway for the 2020–21 school year in areas such as instruction, parent engagement, nutrition and more.
Stakeholders are welcome to comment on the draft LCP plan. Please read the plan and supporting materials at mvwsd.org/lcp, and click on the link there to submit any comments. The comments form closes on Aug. 26. Stakeholders may also attend the Sept. 3 Board of Trustees meeting and view the presentation and comment at that time. For meeting information, please see this page.

Connecting students with internet: Three ways
|
Considering the diverse needs of our students, we are committed to tackling the digital disparities between households. We expanded our 1:1 device program, and children grades TK–8 have take-home devices with the tools needed to work from home, which is especially important now. It is also crucial that our students have internet access.
There are three ways families in need can access low-cost or free internet for learning.
- Free or low cost internet from local providers. (See this English flyer for details. Spanish flyer)
- Visit school parking lots at Crittenden, Graham, Mistral, Monta Loma, Landels, and the District Office to connect to wifi for free. MVWSD devices will connect automatically. Please supervise students and practice social distancing.
- MVWSD-provided hotspots for students in unstable housing. If you have Internet access, you are not eligible for a MVWSD hotspot. The intent of this program is to provide the internet for those without; not as a backup.
Please contact your school if you are a parent who does not have internet for your child’s schoolwork. We can help.
For more info or help with technology, please contact MVWSD Technology at 650-526-3252 or [email protected].

High Fives: Our first week and All Hands with Sal Khan
|
While it's definitely different from past years, this first week of school was full of energy and hope for the coming weeks. Thank you, MVWSD teachers, staff and parents for all the smiles, extra hours and flexibility! See our video here on Facebook and these Facebook posts: Stevenson, Crittenden, Castro.
On Aug. 17, almost 600 MVWSD employees connected online for our annual All-Hands meeting. While we missed seeing each other in person, we had a special guest. Here's a snippet of the conversation with Dr. Rudolph and Sal Khan from Khan Academy.
