New COVID-19 Stay at Home order

Dear Parents,

Due to the significant increase in the number of COVID-19 infections, hospitalizations and deaths, the new Regional Stay Home Order is now in effect in Santa Clara County and is anticipated to remain in effect until January 4, 2021 (see below for highlights).

The update prohibits private gatherings of any size, closes sector operations except for critical infrastructure and retail, and requires 100% masking and physical distancing. According to the Santa Clara County Department of Health, individuals are required to stay home except to conduct essential activities. Gatherings with other households are not allowed, including outdoors.

The Regional Stay at Home order does not apply to schools’ essential activities and programs. MVWSD’s Learning Support Pod program and childcare provided by Beyond the Bell, YMCA, Right at School and the Newton Program will continue under the state’s Cohorting Guidance. Schools that have not reopened for in-person instruction cannot open and must wait until the county has been in the Substantial (Red) Tier for 14 days.

I know this news comes at a time when we are feeling COVID-fatigued and were looking forward to the holidays. Still, we must be vigilant and take these measures to protect our families and our community.

  • Please wear a mask, wash your hands and watch your distance from others.
  • Please get tested once a month, or more frequently if you interact regularly with the public. In addition to free testing for Mountain View residents at El Camino Hospital, the Santa Clara County Public Health Department offers free testing at many locations throughout the county. Details for each testing site can be found at SCCFreeTest.org.
  • Please do not travel. The California Department of Public Health strongly discourages leisure and non-essential travel (see Mandatory Directive on Travel).

Our District will continue its safety protocols outlined in the Return to Learn plan, as well as continue planning for in-person instruction when it is safe to do so. Thank you for taking care of each other.

Respectfully,

Dr. Ayindé Rudolph
Superintendent
