As part of the California Health Education Content standards for 5th grade, the Mountain View Whisman School District provides students with a unit on human growth and development. 

You are welcome to preview the Puberty Talk materials on Monday, September 23rd at 6pm at the District Office (1400 Montecito Ave.) in Conference Room D. After the 23rd , there also will be copies of the curriculum for parents to preview at the District Office.  You are welcome to attend the preview or review the materials at any time. This preview is for parents only, and the meeting will be interpreted in Spanish (childcare will not be provided).

Information will be sent home with fifth-graders with the dates of the Puberty Talk Program.

Eighth-graders
As part of the 2016 California Healthy Youth Act, the Mountain View Whisman School District is required to provide 8th grade students with both sexual health education and HIV prevention education.  Teen Talk Middle School is an 8-10 hour course developed by Health Connected, a non-profit agency dedicated to helping young people feel confident and supported to make informed decisions about their own sexual health.

Health educators from Health Connected and our District nurses will provide for parents an overview of the Teen Talk Middle School course and materials on Monday, September 16th, 6:00pm District Office Board Room, 1400 Montecito Ave., Mountain View. This preview
is for parents only and Spanish interpretation will be provided (child care will not be available).

Information will be sent home with your child including when the Teen Talk Middle School course will be presented.
