New Administrators for 2026-27

As we prepare for the 2026-27 school year, we are excited to welcome new leaders to MVWSD and recognize administrators who are stepping into new or expanded roles in service of our students and families.

Update: June 17, 2026 

Mr. Jamie Bradley has been selected as the new principal of Crittenden Middle School for the 2026-27 school year.  We are excited to welcome him to our school community, where he will partner with Mr. Chesley as part of the administrative team. Mr. Bradley has been an assistant principal for six years at Columbia Middle School in Sunnyvale School District. He has also worked for 7 years in the Fremont Union High School District in a variety of roles including Special Education department lead and teacher, and special ed para-educator. He also has taught English in Asia. He has a bachelor’s from Colorado State University, teaching credential from San Jose State, and a master’s in applied school leadership from National University.

We are pleased to introduce:

Ms. Margaret Poor will be the new principal of Bubb Elementary. She is currently serving as a Teacher on Special Assignment supporting English Learners and was the interim principal at Theuerkauf Elementary in spring 2024. As a TOSA, she has supported students and teachers with English language development instruction and testing. She taught elementary grades at MVWSD, including STEAM as the district was rolling out NGSS standards. Ms. Poor has a bachelor’s degree of Computer and Information Science from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and her credentials are from CalStateTEACH, California State University.


Mr. Gustavo Estrada will be the new principal of Gabriela Mistral Elementary. He is currently working as a Teacher on Special Assignment at John Sutter Elementary School and Bowers Elementary School (Santa Clara USD) assisting with school operations, providing instructional coaching and student discipline. He led implementation of English Learner programs, facilitated professional development and conducted coaching and data cycles at Oak Grove School District. He was a bilingual and general education elementary school teacher for 20 years in Santa Clara County and Tucson, Ariz. He earned a Bachelor of Arts at San Jose State University and master’s in Educational Leadership at Santa Clara University.


Ms. Van Nguyen will be the new Maintenance, Operations & Transportation (MOT) director. She was most recently the Director of MOT in the Milpitas Unified School District since 2023. She also worked as a facilities director and operations manager for four years in the Oak Grove School District. She holds several certifications and earned her bachelor’s degree in Educational and Community Leadership from San Jose State University.


Two current administrators are taking on restructured or expanded responsibilities as part of the District’s efforts to thoughtfully respond to ongoing budget challenges.


Ms. Karin Jinbo’s title is changing from Director of Health and Wellness to Director of Student Services and Wellness. She will oversee both wellness and student services, a continuation of the work she has done on an interim basis since January. Ms. Jinbo has been with MVWSD since 2020, as both the Director of Student Support Services and Special Education, and Director of Health and Wellness.


Ms. Tara Watan’s title is changing from Director of Early Learning and After School Programming to Director of Early Learning. She will continue her current work with Transitional Kindergarten and the Special Education Preschool, in addition to overseeing the MVWSD Preschool program after Terri Kemper’s retirement in June. Ms. Watan was the Assistant Superintendent/Chief Human Relations Officer from 2020-2025. She has been in the District since 2014 as an Educational Services Coordinator and as the Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment.

Together, these staffing changes position us to continue moving forward with a focus on high-quality teaching, strong school communities, and excellent service to students and families.

Update: April 16, 2026

We are excited to introduce two new principals for the 2026–27 school year. Each brings valuable experience and a deep commitment to ensuring every student receives an exceptional education, while fostering strong connections with staff, students, and families.

Ms. Aimee Malcolm has been selected as the new principal of Graham Middle School for the 2026-27 school year. Ms. Malcolm brings a wealth of experience of serving as an Assistant Principal for 10 years, and one year as a district administrator. She is deeply committed to supporting students, partnering with families, and fostering a positive and inclusive school environment.

She is currently an Assistant Principal at Burlingame High School. She directed districtwide English Language Arts curriculum adoption for grades 7-12 as a literacy administrator in the Hayward Unified School District, where she was also an Assistant Principal of Curriculum and Instruction. She has taught language arts in the Hayward Unified School District and Val Verde Unified School District. She earned a bachelor’s degree from California Baptist University and a master's degree from UC Berkeley.

Ms. Carly Sturm will be the new Jose Antonio Vargas Elementary School Principal next year. Ms. Sturm joins us with a strong background of 15+ years of instructional leadership in the San Jose Bay Area. She is passionate about creating a school environment where every student feels supported, and parents and staff feel connected and heard.

She is currently the principal of Lakewood Elementary in the Sunnyvale School District. She has served as the Assistant Principal at Cumberland Elementary School (Sunnyvale). She has also worked as an elementary instructional coach in the Union School District, where she taught grades fourth and fifth. She has also taught seventh grade language arts in the Diocese of San Jose. She has a bachelor’s degree from California Polytechnic State University SLO, and a master’s degree from San Jose State University.
