Two of our schools need interim principals in the coming months. Ms. Terri Lambert is retiring at the end of January, and Ms. Danielle Lyons will be going on maternity leave in January for the rest of the year. These facts led us to think about ways we could adjust District Office roles to provide support for schools and departments for the remainder of the 2024-25 school year.
Here are new interim appointments pending approval by the Board of Trustees.
 Ms. Megan Pohlman, currently Director of Equity, will be Stevenson’s Interim Principal as she steps in for Ms. Lambert who is retiring at the end of January. Ms. Pohlman served as an interim administrator at Graham Middle School and Amy Imai Elementary, in addition to her experience as a classroom teacher. She will continue to do Equity work.
 Ms. Margaret Poor will be Theuerkauf’s Interim Principal as she steps in for Ms. Lyons when she begins her maternity leave in January. Ms. Poor currently serves as a Teacher on Special Assignment supporting English learners, assisting students and teachers with English Language Development instruction and testing. She has taught elementary grades at MVWSD, including STEAM.
 Mr. Brian White, current Health and Wellness Coordinator, will split his current work between Health and Wellness and add coordination of the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) program to his role, while Ms. Acantha Aragon Contreras is acting principal at Castro Elementary. Additionally, the Health and Wellness Department, headed by Ms. Karin Jinbo, will move back to the Educational Services Department to allow the Administrative Services Department more time to focus on Human Resources and hiring.
 Ms. Swati Dagar, currently Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment, will assume the role of Interim Director of Administrative Services, moving from Educational Services to the Administrative Services Department. Ms. Dagar’s expertise as an educational leader and her training in Human Resources will be an asset to MVWSD’s Administrative Services Department.
 Dr. Cyndee Nguyen, currently Director of Early Literacy, will assume the responsibilities of Interim Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment, while continuing her work with the Early Literacy Team. She has served as the principal of Bubb Elementary and as a MVWSD instructional coach.
Making changes in the middle of the year is often not ideal, but they do provide opportunities for adjustments and growth for talented MVWSD staff. These changes will take place in January.
