MVWSD celebrates
Hispanic Heritage Month, beginning Sept. 15, in its schools.
Here are some examples:
Middle schools
* Spotlighting important contributions in our morning announcements on our news program.
* Students in the media class research and highlight how our nation and our world have been shaped and share this with our schools through segments on the morning news program.
Elementary schools
* Recognizing contributions of Latinos to U.S. history and culture regularly on the morning announcements
* Individual grade levels will incorporate special lessons into their days
* Art and music teachers to present examples of Latino/Hispanic art forms
* Hispanic heritage posters and different countries
* Creating traditional masks
* Displays of traditional dancing and songs
* Language arts lessons that include historical figures
