2008-2009 Goals of the Los Altos Mountain View PTA Council

   • To unify and strengthen the Los Altos-Mountain View Council Units through counseling and encouragement, providing opportunities for leadership training and facilitating the exchange of ideas and experiences for the enhancement of all member school communities.

  Activities supporting the achievement of this goal include but are not limited to: Leadership Night, Council mentoring and providing informational forums, Annual Luncheon and Honorary Service Awards.

   • To develop and coordinate unit and council projects and activities in the interest of children and youth.

  Activities supporting the achievement of this goal include but are not limited to: Drug and Alcohol Awareness Initiative, Red Ribbon Week, Blood Drive, Toy and Food Drive, Egan Scholarships, State PTA Reflections Program, sponsored events on parent and voter education, MVWSD Choral Fest, Membership and Emergency Preparedness activities.

   • To build and maintain awareness of community resources available to benefit all youth.

  Activities supporting the achievement of this goal include but are not limited to: best practice sharing with presidents, guest speakers from community organizations, association with Challenge Team and Healthy Ventures and other child advocacy agencies.

   • To facilitate communication among all PTA entities and ensure all units remain in good standing with the State and National PTA.

  Activities supporting the achievement of this goal include but are not limited to: passing on National, State, District and Council information in a useable format to units, collecting all financial obligations and forwarding them to the appropriate level, maintaining a Council web site with updated on-line calendar, soliciting support and information for units, hosting monthly PTA President meetings, participating with units to ensure their success and State PTA Convention coordination.

   • To create public opinion and advocate for the benefit of children, youth and families.

  Activities supporting the achievement of this goal include but are not limited to: providing legislation education and opportunities for advocacy, and fostering positive public relations.
