Summer 2023 Construction Postcard (Spanish postcard)

Locks
A lock management system will be installed. Starting Summer 2023, staff members will be able to access outside doors of classrooms and offices using key cards, instead of keys. This will increase both security and the efficiency of maintaining a secure campus.

Window Replacement Project
When the buildings were constructed, there were no approved operable windows allowed by the Division of the State Architect at the time. The code has since changed and installation of operable windows is planned with work happening May-July 2023.

School Year 2022-23

Lighting
New lights and/or bollard style light posts were be installed to illuminate pedestrians’ path of travel between campus and parking lots. The light locations were determined by photometric survey data. This additional lighting is an important safety measure for staff members and guests using the campus in the evenings and winter late afternoons.

Security Cameras
Security cameras in public areas were installed at all school sites as a way to increase safety for students and staff members by deterring misconduct and preventing vandalism. Members of the schools’ communities were engaged in a series of feedback meetings in Winter 2022.

After community meetings, the Board of Trustees approved a plan in June 2016 to encompass construction of Stevenson, Theuerkauf, relocation of the Preschool program from the Slater site and rebuilding of the District Office.

Construction of the new District Office building began in summer 2018. The District Office moved to the temporary multi-use housing behind its former location in August, and demolition of the current District Office took place in Fall 2018.

Construction on the new District Office continues, and is anticipated to be completed by August 2019. Construction was delayed slightly this spring in order to resolve unforeseen soil conditions. Underground utilities, building foundation and building fabrication are in progress.

The District Office has a new sign in the front. This sign, paid for with Measure G funds, will include accurate school and district names. Funding for construction and capital improvements, like school signs, come from restricted funds that can be used only for that purpose. The District used an innovative approach to piggyback on existing, competitive local government contracts to lower the sign cost and expedite installation.

The District has worked very hard over the years to do the work, funded by Measure G, to make facilities improvements and renovations at every school a reality.
