Evaluations

Research has shown that the quality of instruction is the single most important factor in student achievement. Employee evaluations are important to ensure that we are meeting the District's goals together and creating the best possible learning environment for our students and colleagues. Employees are evaluated as is required by Education Code Section 44929.21B.

There is a process for each type of employee: Certificated (anyone with a teaching credential), Classified (non-teaching personnel), and Administrator (some have both teaching and administrative services credentials, depending on the position; others do not).

Important dates for certificated employees 
By September 15 - All teachers to be evaluated will be notified in writing
September - February - Teachers' goals conference, evaluations are completed by principals
By February 28 - Evaluation paperwork is submitted
By March 15 - Probationary teachers and administrators are to be notified of any decision to reelect or not reelect them for a position for the following school year
By May 15 - Teacher receives a copy of the summative evaluation
By May 31 - Teachers meet with evaluator for summative evaluation conference
By June 10 - Final evaluation report which includes: Certificated Evaluation
Calendar, all Collaborative Assessment Logs, and the Summative Evaluation are filed with Superintendent or designee

Important dates for classified staff evaluation
All employees shall have probationary status during the first nine (9) months of employment. Probationary employees shall be evaluated at four (4) months and eight (8) months of their probationary period. The eight (8) month evaluation must indicate satisfactory service before the appointee becomes a permanent employee.

Evaluations are done periodically throughout the year. By March 15 administrators are to be notified of any decision to reelect or not reelect them for a position for the following school year
