The Mountain View Whisman School District has a wide variety of task forces and advisory committees that meet on a regular basis. Many of these task forces and advisory committees include both staff members and parents. Please check the District's Public Calendar for meeting dates and locations.
GATE (Gifted and Talented Education) Advisory Committee: Meets at least four times a year to give input on and share ideas about how to best serve our GATE students including providing both district and site options for GATE activities. The members of the committee include both parents and teachers from the school sites who help with the program.
The District Advisory Committee (DAC) meets monthly and is made up of representatives from each school site council. The committee members learn about and provide input on key aspects of the district including assessments, current instructional initiatives and the district budget. As part of the budget, they review categorical program funding and the associated Consolidated Application. They also have the opportunity to give input on the annual MVWSD parent survey and review the results. Click here for meetings agendas and notes.
The District English Language Advisory Council (DELAC) is a group of elected parents whose children are English Learners. The DELAC's purpose is to advise the district governing board on programs and services available for their students in order to achieve academic success. All interested parents, School Site Council, ELAC officers, community members, and school personnel are invited to attend DELAC meetings. They are held 6 times a year.
Measure G Oversight Committee: The Measure G Oversight Committee is an independent citizens’ oversight committee that reviews the expenditure of funds generated by the Measure G general obligation bonds.
Parcel Tax Oversight Advisory Committee: The Parcel Tax Citizens Oversight Advisory Committee (PTOAC) is an independent citizen oversight committee that monitors the funds generated from Measure C parcel tax.
Board Facilities Committee: The Board Facilities Committee consists of a broad range of community representatives and provides an open public forum whereby the community can be informed of and participate in the Measure G facilities construction process.
