The Board of Trustees recently approved the 2018-19 school year District calendar. You may view it here.

California School Dashboard released this week

This week, California released the new version of the website designed to help communities across the state access important information about districts and schools. The California School Dashboard features easy-to-read reports on multiple measures of school success, including test scores, English learning progress and suspension rates. The Dashboard replaces the old API measurement.

This new accountability system is based on multiple data measures, and these measures are used to determine District and school progress on meeting the needs of students. There are color-coded graphics that show the District’s performance levels in several areas.

Parents and community members can view reports on the performance of all students and each student group on the state indicator, current performance and difference from past performance, and year-by-year data for the state indicators.

California School Dashboard measurements for MVWSD are:

State indicators

  • Academic performance in language arts and math (baseline data; not comparable to March 2017 Dashboard data)
  • English Learner progress
  • Suspension rates
  • Chronic absenteeism (baseline data)

Local indicators:

  • Parent engagement
  • School climate
  • Implementation of standards
  • Basic services and conditions

Check for more information on the Dashboard’s format and data. A comprehensive analysis will be provided to the Board of Trustees on Jan. 4, and schools will present their progress to their communities in January and February.

Comprehensive Tentative Agreement with District and CSEA reached

The District and CSEA have completed contract negotiations and reached a comprehensive tentative agreement. Read more in the Negotiations News here.
